James Gunn will lead DC studios of DC’s film, TV and animation division with Peter Safran

As you know, Warner Bros. has been trying to find someone to lead DC’s charge at the studio and it seems they’ve found a team to take on the challenge! That team is made up of writer and director James Gunn and manufacturer Pietro Safran.

This is sure to be a nice surprise for DC fans! I first learned that Gunn was in talks with WB about this a few weeks ago, but I wasn’t sure if the deal would actually go through! I felt it too at that moment Dwayne Johnson he was actively trying to land that job, but the studio was more eager to bring in Gunn, which it did! Well, good for them!

Gunn and Safran will serve as co-chairs and co-CEOs of DC Studios, a newly formed division of Warner Bros. that will replace DC Films. They will focus on DC’s film, television and animation efforts.

It is explained that Gunn “will focus on the creative side, while Safran will focus on the commercial and production side. Both should continue to direct and produce projects respectively ”. They will report directly to WB chief David Zaslav and will work closely with Warner film leaders Michele De Luca And Pamela Abdy.

Sources say the deal lasts for four years and Gunn will be a DC exclusive. The goal is that they are not just producers, but that they truly function as executives even though Gunn will occasionally direct a film. So, Gunn is the DC version of Kevin Feige and I’m sure he’s going to be awesome in this leadership role!
