‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’: the first trailer introduces Kang the Conqueror

Although small, the expectation behind Ant-Man’s third installment is huge. He proved it in the first official announcement and it was reiterated after the release of the first trailer of the film, which rocked the internet. “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” will hit theaters on February 17, 2023 and with it one of Marvel’s most dangerous characters, Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. The actor is the antagonist of a story that according to the director of ‘Quantumania’, Peyton Reed, will not go unnoticed. On the contrary, at San Diego Comic Con he revealed that the events of the film will permanently change the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

One of the reasons this new adventure from Ant-Man and The Wasp promises to score a before and after in the MCU is the villain who will wage war on our little big heroes, Kang the Conqueror. Not just any villain, in addition to having extensive experience in the world of comics, Kang will also be the great challenge that the Avengers will face in the group’s long-awaited next film, ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’. which will be released on May 2nd 2025. Not everyone faces the most powerful heroes on Earth, this is an indicator of the power he possesses and how difficult it will be to face it, so the community would do better to prepare ants and wasps, El Conquistador is not going to joke .

We have already been warned by Kang himself that the heroes are not prepared for the challenge that awaits us. One of his variants of him (the same character in another universe) did so in the final chapter of the “Loki” series, where he explained that he was nothing dangerous or evil compared to some of his variants of him. Among his skills are there time travel, his incredible intelligence, he is an experienced strategist and hand-to-hand fighter with a skill enviable by many heroes. As if that weren’t enough, he has radiation resistance, access to advanced technology, and battle armor that gives him more powers. We will see new faces in the film, because Ant-Man and The Wasp will not be alone in this adventure, they enlist the help of Cassie Lang, the daughter of Scott Lang, whose hero name in the comics is Stature. The character has the same powers as his father, he can shrink and change size, but, at least in the comics, he doesn’t need a special suit to do so. He will be played by Kathryn Newton (“The Society”).

Are the Young Avengers Coming?

One group that has quite a few fans within the comics is the Young Avengers, a group of teenage characters who have been reunited since the disappearance of The Avengers following the events of “Avengers: Disassembled”. Although at first it may seem like a cheap copy of the original group, these young people have their own history of popular origin, both individually for each character and together. The original group consists of Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Patriot, Iron Lad, Hulkling and the brothers Billy and Tommy Maximoff, sons of Scarlet Witch.

Marvel Studios are gradually introducing these characters separately to the MCU, which could mean a possible reunion of the group in the future. We met Kate in the series ‘Hawkeye’, Tommy and Billy in ‘Scarlet Witch and Vision’, Patriot, although in the background, in ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ ​​(he is the grandson of Isaiah Bradley) We met Cassie before as a girl in the first two episodes of Ant-Man, but, after the mistake, she grew up. America Chavez was introduced in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, she does not belong to the original group, but was later joined by him and became a much loved member and best friend of Kate.

It remains for us to see Hulkling, a half-Skrull, half-human character who, despite the name, has no relationship with the Hulk beyond physical appearance. It is rumored that he may appear alongside adult versions of Billy and Tommy in the ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ series, but to find out if this is true we’ll have to wait a bit. We haven’t even seen Iron Lad, but no, he’s not related to Iron Man. His origin is quite complex and long, in addition to talking about him it would gut his history and that of the Young Avengers, so this is not the time to delve into the matter, but the villain of ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ is very important in it.
