“The House of the Dragon” has already shelved its second season with the cards prepared for a great war. The HBO Max series led by Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal told in its first ten chapters the history of the Targaryems, the Hightower and the Velaryon, the debate over the succession to the throne after King Viserys (Paddy Considine) and the frictions that have ended to leave the situation more critical than ever. Ryan Condal is left alone in front of the series in the second seasonand in his early statements about what’s to come, he feels the pressure to maintain the level of a season that has managed to reignite the fire of “Game of Thrones”.

Speaking of the new chapters, in an interview with EW he explains the extent of this civil war that is coming: “I don’t know if A Dance with Dragons will ever have the ‘Game of Thrones’ extension, just beyond the Wall, Essos and other places they’ve gone. But certainly. the season we are writing has a rhythm reminiscent of a central season (seasons 3-6) in terms of scale, breadth and number of characters”. Condal says we will be following more characters who will no longer be on the same stage, although they will continue to be largely so “the story of Alicent, Rhaenyra and their fighting families”.
Speaking of this comparison, the showrunner believes it won’t be anything like what we saw in “Game of Thrones”: “This is not like the Starks and Lannisters. This is a big family fighting with each other. It is more difficult to distinguish the sides”. He also claims that our affinity for some characters may change over the season because “The Dragon House” is not “The Lord of the Rings” or “Star Wars”: “People are looking for the dark side and the light side, the Jedi and the Sith. The elves and the bows. But it’s not that kind of story.”.
What can’t be seen!
Speaking of the dark side, Condal also responded to complaints about the series’ image and how difficult it is to see certain scenes: “The visual continuity of the series is something we’re going to look into. It’s a very complicated thing because we spend millions of dollars on high-end equipment for post-production, like we were shooting a movie. It was great in post-po and on my television too. But when you release a “Star Wars” movie you distribute it in theaters. On TV you distribute it on a million different screens, with different settings and calibrations around the planet. 1080i, or not at all, is hard to match for TVs and calibrations around the world, and sometimes the file is very compressed. The series may look different than what we’ve seen and approved. But look: it is our job to take this into account. These are the things you learn by doing a series, you have to take them into account when doing the second season and say: how can we improve? We listened to the feedback. Caught. And we want the series to be a great viewing experience for everyone.” he explains to the Hollywood Reporter.
The second season of “The house of the dragon” does not have a release date still.
