Barry Keoghan says they “didn’t see” the best of the Joker for “The Batman 2” – Courtesy (special)
The Joker has always been one of the villains that generates the most interest in superhero movies, because after ‘The Dark Knight’, Heath Ledger raised the bar with his portrayal of the criminal clown. Barry Keoghan admits that “The Batman 2” may have a more convoluted and “human” version of this foe in “The Batman”, which has yet to be confirmed.
Recently, Matt Reeves confirmed that he is working on more films within the universe of ‘Batman’, in addition to the series for HBO Max, which would be directed by several directors and which would focus on other villains of the Dark Knight, such as Clayface, the Scarecrow and Mr. Freeze. However, the second part of the film was not officially announced.
In this regard, during an interview for GQ, Barry Keoghan isn’t sure he’ll be back ‘Batman 2’like the Joker. Since neither Warner nor Matt have called him yet to talk about when the next time he would play the Clown Prince of Crime would be. However, he’s willing to do it again whenever necessary: ”I’d love to show him a little arc.”
“The Batman 2” is not a fact, but Barry Keoghan wants to show his version of the Joker in full, beyond the end and the deleted scene of the film with Robert Pattinson: “If I could bring it to life it would be incredible and give them my version, which they haven’t seen.”
Barry Keoghan praises Heath Ledger’s Joker
The adaptations of the Joker to the big screen were characterized by what Heath Ledger did in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight”. The actor also won a posthumous Oscar for portraying him and one of the few for the superhero genre. Barry Keoghan he told Collider that Ledger was his favorite version of the Batman villain and praised it.
“Heath Ledger was the best for me. So you have a lot of people to draw inspiration from and stuff like that. But again, bring your own version. This is what I do with any character I play, no one has seen my version, “Keoghan said. But while Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix have been acclaimed for their performances as the Joker, Keoghan wants to do it his way: so : “I want to wear my version, because I feel it’s new in a way.”
“Arkham Asylum” is the second spin-off of “The Batman” after “The Penguin”, and it has been confirmed that there will be several Dark Knight villains. Barry Keoghan’s Joker has a lot of potential ahead of him, he could be part of one of the future installments of this universe, or even the main antagonist of the sequel, but so far nothing is confirmed.
