This is an old stop-motion animated film from 1930 titled Daisy doll in hearts and flowers. It was originally released by Warner Brothers as part of their “Vitaphone Varieties” series, featuring sound. The Vitaphone soundtrack has not been found, but apparently there are people who are still trying to recover it.
The film was directed by Howard Moss, one of the first stop-motion animators. The story follows two men who compete to win the heart of their mutual love interest.
It was made to be a cute little story, but it’s unintentionally creepy! The film was saved by the animator Mark Kausler:
This near-lost short was released by Warner Brothers as part of its variety series. The soundtrack, on the Vitaphone disc, remains lost. The film remains for us to enjoy, thanks to the conservation efforts of Mark Kausler.
Several people have put their own soundtrack into the story. I also included a video with the music.
