Benedict Cumberbatch says he rewrote some scenes in Doctor Strange 2, Leaning on the Dark

Benedict Cumberbatch more than proved himself the master of the mystical arts, Dr. Stephen Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, learning his magical craft, guiding his co-avengers through snapping, as well as his flip, blasting the multiverse and making his own better fix it again. Although most of his MCU appearances have been within an ensemble, he has had two of his own films and the most recent was one of the darkest Marvel films we’ve gotten from any of our heroes, and it turns out that it had a lot to do with that.

In a recent interview with Prestige, Cumberbatch was asked what it was like to play the variants of Doctor Strange Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness. She said that that was her favorite part of her in the film and explained the hand he had in bringing it to fruition that way.

“This was the fun part and I couldn’t talk about any of that pre-press, so it’s very nice to be able to talk about it now. I absolutely loved it, and it sounds so selfish – but here we go, that’s what actors are – but I enjoyed shooting scenes with myself because of the challenge. And I had to write some of those scenes … I suggested it had to get darker at some point. There was a slightly more mushy version at one stage and I’m really happy with how it has evolved. Sam Raimi was so ready and Michael Waldron really helped me write it. We turned what was a very small fight between the two into a very bizarre and imaginative kind of battle at the time. I really loved it. That was how the original was introduced to me a long time ago, when Scott Derrickson was still working with us: Strange would have met versions of himself. It was something I wanted to lean on. We could have gone even further, and maybe it will go into the future. Who knows what other versions we might need in the multiverse chapter of the MCU? But it was a lot of fun to play all the variations of myself ”.

I liked how Strange Doctor 2 He came out. It was so fun to see a Marvel movie get so wild and off the rails. I loved the way they handled the cameos in the other universes and the twists you weren’t expecting, like Strange reviving his other dead self. I’m glad they pushed the boundaries and gave us such a fun movie. It looks like the next couple of weeks are the perfect time for a rewatch!
