Ruth E. Carter is a costume designer and has worked on productions such as ‘Babysitter’, ‘Malcolm X’, ‘Friendship’, ‘No Exit’, ‘The Butler’, ‘Selma’, ‘Kidnap’, ‘The King of Zamunda’ or ‘Black Panther’, for which he won his first (and so far only) Oscar. Carter is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for its sequel, “Wakanda Forever”, and in an interview with Variety during the celebration of the Youth of the Year Gala of the NGO Boys & Girls Clubs of America, he explained how two giveaways can also be made with clothing, in this case to actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020 for colon cancer

In ‘Wakanda Forever’ the color white has two meanings, on the one hand it is linked to the African tradition and on the other hand pays homage to Boseman after his death: “When T’Challa wakes up and sees her father, he’s dressed in white”Carter explains, “White is a color that is used in many funerals in Africa, it can be bright red or white, and we chose white because it connects to Chadwick, T’Challa.”

With the loss of Boseman, a new hero or heroine will become the Black Panther, and while Carter has been very careful not to reveal who will be wearing the suit, he has provided new details on the changes that have been applied: “We have studied very carefully how to make this person a superhero without changing them so much. […] East [nuevo traje] has silver and gold elements while our beloved Chadwick Boseman’s dress was all silver, so this already makes it much more charming for the wearer. “

The godfather of superheroes

In an interview with Total Film, “Black Panther 2” producer Nate Moore compared what we can expect from a complete cinematic classic, “Francis Ford Coppola’s Godfather: “Sounds crazy, but I’m going to say it. There’s a bit of a mafia movie in it. There’s a little bit of … ‘The Godfather’ … sounds like I’m going crazy, but … there’s this warring families thing. Because this film is a lot about Wakanda finding an equal in Namor’s world, Talocan. “

“But these two isolationist nations, which are incredibly powerful, probably more powerful than any other nation in the world, will find out how they can coexist.”continues the producer, “The film is a lot about Wakanda opening its borders to some extent and influencing Namor’s world in unexpected ways. Namor arrives in Wakanda with a proposal that is not unlike one of the five families who arrives with a proposal. And Wakanda has to figure out how to deal with this world power which, frankly, is not at all afraid of it. ”

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, which will be released in theaters on November 11th, will be the closing of Phase 4 of the MCU and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ will open Phase 5.
