This October 14th the wizarding world has once again pointed its wands skyward with the death of Robbie Coltrane, the actor who brought to life the kind, clumsy, affectionate, naive and optimistic Hagrid in the “Harry Potter” saga, even though his cinematic legacy extends far beyond. Coltrane, whose birth name was Anthony Robert McMillan, died in Scotland after several years of illness and, of course, as soon as the news was heard, the internet filled with messages of love and affection for him, as well as giveaways from the his colleagues and colleagues in the cast of the JK Rowling franchise.
Daniel Radcliffe, the protagonist of the 8 films, the-boy-survivor, was the one who shared the most time with him on the screen and in the statements to Deadline said: “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met and made us laugh constantly when we were kids on set. I have particularly fond memories of him lifting our spirits in ‘The Prisoner of Azkaban’, when we hid for hours in the pouring rain in Hagrid’s hut and he would tell us stories and joke to keep our spirits up. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to meet and work with him and I am very sad for his death. He was an amazing actor and a lovely man. “
