Halloween: Whenever Michael Myers Escaped His Apparent End – Broadcast (Dimension Films)

Despite the successful saga of horror films Halloweencreated by John Carpenter in 1978, seems to be drawing to a close with the October 13 premiere of “Halloween: Ends”, a film that promises to be the final point of the saga, we may be a little more skeptical due to the amount of times that Michael Myers managed to escape death.

The character was sacrificed, riddled with bullets, exploited, electrocuted and even beheaded throughout the entire Halloween saga. So it would seem that the incarnation of evil could hardly die, as in each of the altercations, Michael Myers ends up surviving after increasingly unlikely circumstances in each film.

‘Halloween’ (1978) – After several shots

In his first theatrical appearance, Michael Myers appears to have died after being shot multiple times by Dr. Loomis. While initially it appears that the gunfire and a subsequent fall from a second story ended Myers’ life, the killer’s body disappears when Loomis goes looking for him and realizes he is missing.

‘Halloween II’ (1981) – Burned out after an explosion

Upon his return in the 1981 sequel, Michael Myers is killed in an explosion caused by Loomis using flammable gas. In one of the last scenes of the film we can see Myers going out covered in flames, only to end up succumbing to them, which would seem to be the end of the character, apparently.

“Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers” (1988) – Shot by the police

Michael Myers returns in this film that modifies the killer’s death at the end of the 1981 sequel. Instead, the killer has been in a coma for ten years. The film looks like a remake of the original “Halloween”, including Loomis’ return in another miraculous escape from death, culminating in the killing of Myers by the police.

‘Halloween V: Michael Myers’ Revenge’ (1989) – He doesn’t die

In this “Halloween IV” sequel, Michael Myers again escapes his apparent death and returns to terrorize his granddaughter Jamie. Interestingly, this is one of the films in which Myers is not killed in any way, but at the end of the film he manages to break out of the jail he was imprisoned in, to continue his wave of violence.

“Halloween VI: The Curse of Michael Myers” (1995) – Beaten to death

In this film, the story continues six years after its predecessor. In it, Myers’ superhuman strength and resilience is justified, because it is controlled by a sect. Despite all this, the killer ends up being beaten to death by one of the characters in the film. Finish the first version of the Halloween saga.

“Halloween H20: 20 Years Later” (1998) – Beheaded by Laurie Strode

This first “reboot” of the franchise continues the story of “Halloween II” from 1981 and marks the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. In this we see one of the most decisive deaths suffered by the killer, Strode beheads Michael Myers with an ax, once again concluding another version of the Halloween story.

“Halloween Resurrection” (2002) – Electrocuted

The tape is a continuation of “Halloween H20” which justifies that Michael Myers survived by changing his clothes and mask for that of one of the paramedics who transported him. After a first scene in which Myers finally manages to kill Laurie Strode, the killer decides to flee and take refuge in his old family home.

Without knowing it, a reality show begins to be recorded inside his house. After killing nearly the entire cast of the show, Myers is cornered in his home garage and electrocuted to death by one of the show’s members. This would be another point of arrival for the saga, but the franchise continued with a reboot at the hands of Rob Zombie.

‘Halloween’ (2007) – After being shot in the head

Rob Zombie enters the saga with a “reboot” that further explores Michael Myers’ past and the circumstances that lead him to become the embodiment of evil, offering audiences a far more complicated perspective on the killer’s personality. The film ends with an emotional scene in which Laurie kills her brother Michael with a blow to the head.

‘Halloween II’ (2009) – Stabbed by Laurie Strode / After the police shooting

After surviving a bullet to the skull, Michael Myers returns a year later to continue tormenting other victims. This tape has two endings depending on whether it’s the original version or the director’s version of Rob Zombie. In the first Michael is stabbed by his sister Laurie. In the second, Michael is shot to death by the police.

‘Halloween’ (2018) – Trapped in a burning basement

This is a continuation of “Halloween” (1978) and picks up the story of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode four decades later. At the climax of the film, Michael Myers is trapped in the basement of Strode’s house, which is burned down with the killer inside. However, we eventually get to see that he is still alive when we feel that he is still breathing.

‘Halloween Kills’ (2021) – Killed by a mob of his victims

At the end of this continuation of the 2018 “Halloween” movie, in which the serial killer is saved from the flames by firefighters after the fire. Myers appears to have been eliminated from a mob made up of the victims of his previous crimes, but he still survives to kill Laurie Strode’s daughter Karen, one of his initial targets.

Now this October 13, 2022 we will have the tape listed as the latest in the saga, “Halloween: Ends”, which will be a continuation of the 2021 film, set 4 years later. We just have to wait a few days to find out if the incarnation of evil will end its legacy of violence, or continue to haunt Laurie Strode and other victims.
