Netflix has just released its new movie ‘Blonde’based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates about the life of Marlyn Monroe, with Ana de Armas. Two weeks after its premiere, opinions started to grow around the film, but what scenes actually happened and what is pure fiction.

The book Joyce Carol Oates wrote was written 23 years ago, and has been in the spotlight ever since to take her to the movies. At first the option to embody Marlyn Monroe was Noemi watt, but the role ended with Ana de Armas. Production of the tape began in 2019, but it wasn’t until 2022 that Netflix decided to release it.

Marilyn Monroe was raped by one of her partners, as portrayed in the film

The new film by Netflix, ‘Blonde’ adapts Joyce Carol Oates’ novel of the same name based on the life of Marlyn Monroe. Played by Ana de Armas, who received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, the film, like any adaptation of real events, has a touch of fiction coupled with truth.

The story begins with the childhood of little Norma Jane, who as an adult would become the iconic actress Marlyn Mornoe. Her mother, after becoming pregnant with Norma, begins to have an anxiety crisis, ending up being admitted to a psychiatric hospital for paranoid schizophrenia.

Due to her condition, we are shown in the film how little Norma’s mother tries to drown her in a bathtub, however, although the details of the film about her mother’s condition are true, there is no real evidence that he tried to drown Norma Jane Small.

On the other hand, upon arrival in Hollywood, in one of the first scenes, Marilyn Monroe’s first experience in the film industry is shown. According to the film, Monroe was raped by an executive, representing Darryl F. Zanuck of the Century Fox network.

However, there is no evidence that this actually happened, as the film shows, and as for Monroe, she has never claimed that she was raped by Zanuck. But the one who violated her in real life was one of her partners, Joe Dimaggio, who beat her out of jealousyas shown in the movie.

Monroe’s marriage to Arthur Miller is one of the film’s most faithful portraits, which was her prelude to drug use. In addition to that, the actress’s continuing miscarriages, albeit unintentional, as shown in “Blonde”, happened in real life, spontaneously.

In addition to that, Miller’s representations of Marlyn in her works ended up offending the actress, another fact that is very faithfully portrayed in the film, and that after their disbandment in 1961, Marlyn would start using drugsa situation that also occurred in real life and that ended up taking his life.

After the death of Marilyn Monroe, there was a series of doubts from the authorities about the circumstances of her death, because due to the number of pills they found inside her body, they speculated that the famous actress may have committed suicide, trying to overdose on drugs.
