Ozark protagonist and director Jason Bateman signed to direct the film adaptation of the novel Dark thread to Netflix. The FBI Surveillance Story “uncovers the true story of how the FBI launched a bogus telecommunications company and became a telephone service provider for some of the world’s most famous gangs, culminating in the arrest of more than a thousand international criminals “.
Based on the Vice Motherboard reporter Joseph Coxof the next book, the story was adapted for the screen from Matteo Orton (Final Operation). Tracey Nyberg will serve as executive producer. Niija Kuykendall is the creative head of the project for Netflix, which does both 21 Laps and Bateman’s Aggregate.
Other producers include Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Dan Levine for Stranger things outfit 21 Laps, and by Bateman and Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films (Game night).
