The CW has released another trailer for the next one Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters. This series tells the story of how Sam and Dean’s parents, John and Mary, met and “how they put it all on the line not just to save their love, but the whole world”.
Supernatural fans seem pretty excited about this show. I’m not as involved in this as some people, as I’m still slowly making my way through the original series.
In the series, “Mary is 19 and has fought the forces of darkness since she was a child. After losing someone close to her, the hardened huntress plans to leave the family business, until the disappearance of her father and the arrival of newcomer John force her to lead a new team. John recently returned from Vietnam. Selfless and clear-headed, he finds a new mission at home, where traces of his father’s past lead him to a secret organization and a new war as a hunter.
Speaking about the series with TVLine, Ackles said:
“To be honest, I was like, ‘I don’t know if we can do this,’ and then it took [writer] Robbie [Thompson] and I sit down saying, ‘Well, we know we have to do this, and we know we have to do it, but if we connect those points with a straight line, it’s not fun. That’s boring. This is a simple story. If we connect those dots in a much crazier, wilder way Supernatural way, then we have a show. ‘ So that’s what we did. “
“This is the most exciting thing, in my opinion, is that the waypoints or tentpoles that have been established on the mothership, as we lovingly call it, will be touched. But we’re going to get to those waypoints in a way we probably weren’t expecting. And that’s it. We’re really having fun with, like, the story is coming together. It’s not the washed-out version. It’s not the sugar-coated version of how Mom and Dad met. It’s how it really happened. “
“But we play in the moments that have been discussed and talked about. Just maybe in a slightly varied way that feels like, ‘Whoa, wait, we knew it happened, but I didn’t know why it happened or how it happened.'”
John and Mary are played by Drake Rodger And Meg DonnellyAnd Jensen Ackles will return to narrate the series as Dean Winchester. Supernatural executive producer Robbie Thompson writing and executive production.
The Winchesters debuts Tuesday 11 October at 8 / 7c on The CW.
