Martin Corto (The Three Amigos, Only murders in the building) and country music star and Grammy Award-winning singer Shania Twain are in final negotiations to participate in the special ABC, Beauty and the Beast: a 30th anniversary. If the contracts are signed, Short will play Lumière, the suave and funny candlestick, while Twain will play the role of Mrs. Potts, previously played by Angela Lansbury. That would put her in a position to sing the title song, “Beauty and the Beast”, and I think it’s a fantastic casting decision.

Previously announced cast members include the Oscar winner HIS as Belle, a Grammy winner Josh Groban as a Beast, Joshua Henry like Gaston, and David Alan Grier like Cogsworth, as well as the EGOT legend Rita Morenowho will serve as the show’s narrator in the hybrid live-action / animated production.

The Hamish Hamilton-The direct special will be filmed live and will feature never-before-seen musical performances. Jamal Sims is an executive producer and choreographer. The scenography is by Julio Himede with the costumes of Marina Toybina (The masked singer).

Jon M. Chu is the executive producer of the special, produced by Done + Dusted in association with Walt Disney Television Alternative and Electric Somewhere.

The special will premiere December 15 on ABC and stream on Disney + the following day.
