“The Bridgertons” publishes the first premieres of the third season and the spin-off on Queen Charlotte

Dear readers, the universe of “The Bridgertons” continues to grow with the third season of Netflix’s hit, coming to the platform soon, and its first spin-off, a prequel about Queen Charlotte’s youth, a character played by Golda Rosheuvel in the main series.

After establishing herself as one of Netflix’s stars with its second season, centering on the passionate love story between Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), the series produced by Shonda Rhimes decided to change the order of Julia Quinn’s books on which it is based, skipping the third (belonging to Benedict) for now to advance the fourthwho will tell the love story between Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).

During the virtual event TUDUM, where Netflix presents its upcoming novelties, a funny special video was released in which Coughlan takes on her role as narrator through the alter ego of Lady Whistledown (original voice of the series of Julie Andrews) while Newton and Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise in the series, paint a portrait of themselves, as they answer questions about the series and what awaits us in the new season in terms of the romance between Colin and Penelope and the discovery of the second’s secret identity by her best friend.

Coughlan appears at the end of the video with news about Lady Whistledown’s third season, unveiling the title of the first episode, ‘Out of the Shadows’, written by Jess Brownell and directed by Tricia Brock, and then read the first few lines. The new chapters begin with the classic Whistledown narrative that introduces the new season of London high society and asks the following question: “Which new rookie will shine the most?”. The third season of “The Bridgertons”, which began shooting last July, does not yet have a release date.

The love story that started it all

Shonda Rhimes has expressed on more than one occasion her intention to adapt the eight novels of the Julia Quinn saga, that is, that the series can reach eight seasons if all goes according to plan. Judging by the huge ratings she has, she is well on her way to achieving this feat. Not only that, but beyond the main story about the Bridgerton brothers, the property will expand with spin-offs, starting with a prequel focusing on the youth of Queen Charlotte. Also as part of TUDUM, Netflix launched the first preview of the miniseries.

In the clip we witness the first meeting between Carlota, played in her young version by India Amarteifio, and King George (Corey Mylchreest, ‘Sandman’), who will star in the love story that sparked the society of ‘The Bridgertons’ as we know it. In true “Star Wars” fashion, the prequel is titled “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”. The miniseries also stars Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta and Arsema Thomas as the young Lady Danbury, as well as Ruth Gemmell and Adjoa Andoh, who reprise their characters from the original series, Lady Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury, respectively. The series will debut in 2023.
