The Spanish box office is still lethargic. Since the previous weekend, almost 200,000 euros in collections have been lost, reaching a rather weak total of 3.18 million euros and only 467,670 tickets sold, according to Comscore data. There hasn’t been a particularly striking or large premiere, despite two novelties having managed to sneak into the top 5. But not with remarkable data.

‘Tadeo Jones 3: The Emerald Table’ regains top spot on the list after losing it the previous week to Julia Roberts and George Clooney. The animated film adds another 676,000 euros to a total that already exceeds 8 million euros, already entering the list of the ten highest-grossing films of the year. But it’s still far from the 18 and 17 million that the two previous installments of Enrique Gato’s character reached in 2012 and 2017 respectively.
“Journey to Paradise” drops to second place with 32% less revenue than its first weekend. Add € 594,589 million to a total of € 1.88 million. Perhaps it is early to begin to decline, especially having increased the number of screens, but the romantic comedy would have to last in many theaters to arrive fairly well positioned at the Film Festival.
The strongest premiere of the week is “La vida padre”. Enric Auquer and Karra Elejalde’s film debuted in third place with a box office of € 411,329 and an average of € 1,172 per screen. Thus, he gets a first similar to “Alcarràs”, but a bit lukewarm coming from a major like Paramount. Nor is it a movie that came with a lot of noise.
In fourth position we find another novelty. ‘The invitation’ begins its journey in cinemas with 274,000 euros and an average per cinema that does not reach a thousand euros. It has had mixed reviews and not a huge hype, perhaps if it lasts until the Film Festival it will get a big boost as a horror title.
Closes the top 5 ‘Bullet Train’, which in its seventh week in theaters accumulates 7.62 million euros in Brad Pitt’s briefcase. This weekend it reached € 201,000 and a very small drop of only 10%. It is also about to sneak into the top ten highest-grossing films of the year, of which “Minions: The Origin of Gru” remains the queen with a total of nearly € 20.5 million after 12 weeks on billboards.
News and déjà vu
A rather curious season of previews is approaching, with a certain feeling of déjà vu. ‘Don’t worry, dear’ finally arrives in our halls, Olivia Wilde’s film surrounded by controversy but which remains one of the most anticipated of the season. Also opens ‘Modelo 77’, by Alberto Rodríguez, directed by Miguel Herrán and Javier Gutiérrez. David Cronenberg premieres “Crimes of the Future”. And Paco León shows “Rainbow” in some cinemas before its arrival on Netflix. P.But even the steamroller of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” returns to theaters with his version with eleven more minutes. Will the wall crawler win back the top spot or is there too little content for the public to pay for another ticket?
