Tom Hardy surprised us again. On Saturday 17 September, the actor performed in a martial arts tournament held in a small town in England. Hardy entered the competition silently, under his real name, Edward Hardy. His participation was not announced and caused a great surprise in the spectators and participants.

According to The Guardian, Hardy participated in the 2022 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championships, held in a high school gym in Milton Keynes. He not only participated, but was crowned champion by winning all of his rounds.
A league spokesperson spoke to The Guardian and referred to the actor as a “a really nice guy.” “Everyone recognized him, but he was very humble and happy to take the time for people to take pictures with him. It was a real pleasure to see him compete in our event”, the spokesman explained. This is Hardy’s second impressive appearance in an unannounced martial arts tournament. In August, the “Warrior” star won the REORG Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Wolverhampton, England.
At the height of their characters
Danny Appleby, the actor’s opponent in Wolverhampton, spoke to his local newspaper, the Teeside Gazette, after their confrontation in the ring: “I recognized him right away. Everyone knows who Tom Hardy is, right?” Appleby explained. “I was shocked. He said ‘forget it’s me and do what you normally would'”said Danny Appleby.
“He’s a really strong guy. You wouldn’t think he was famous. I do well, I’ve done about six tournaments and I’ve been on the podium in all of them. But he’s probably the toughest competitor I’ve ever had; Surely he lived up to his character as Bane (“The Dark Knight Rises”), that’s for sure “, Appleby is done.
