
In the most recent trailer for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, we have to see The next generation the crew reunites and also introduces a new ship called the USS Titan-A. The ship features Seven of Nine as its commander, having finally joined Starfleet.
We have some new details to share regarding this new ship and it is confirmed that this is not the same Titan that Will Riker commanded. Star Trek: The Nemesis. But they share a connection. Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Showrunner Terry Matala he recently offered some details and explained the connection between the two Titan is shipped in a recent interview with TrekMovie.
“And the Titan-A, yes. You will see in the season, that in the observation room we honor the previous one Titans who came first. You will see a gold model of the moon USS class Titan as seen in Lower bridges, designed by Sean Tourangeau. And we also see an earlier incarnation of the era of TOS movies. We will see that there was a Titan that was a bit to Constitution pure class, the original Shangri-La class [designed by Bill Krause]. So, the idea was that after the moon legacy of the class led with Riker, that ship was damaged and retreated. Some of the systems have been reassembled and inserted into this new one Titanthe Titan-A.”
Matalas went on to talk about the purpose of the Titan-A, saying that it is an exploratory ship:
“It’s a classic exploration ship that’s a bit of a loser in the situation it’s in. So we really wanted to take a moment here and think about where Starfleet is and how it would see benefits in diversifying ship designs including specially designed ships. built that have been designed for specific types of missions Titan it’s more of a long-range workhorse than a ship. Returning to the Constitution class designed for long 5 year missions. She is an exploratory ship with some important maneuvering skills. Have you seen those pulse motors? Ugh! “
He goes on to describe the Titan-A as a “hero ship”. We’ll have to wait and see what exactly that means when we watch the final season of the series!
The series is the protagonist Patrick Stewart like Picard, Jonathan Frakes like William T. Riker, Marina Sirti like Deanna Troi, Brent Spiner as Data, Le Var Burton how Geordi La Forg, Michele Dorn like Worf, Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musician, and Gates McFadden as Beverly Crusher for a new space adventure! Then of course there is Jeri Ryan as Commander Seven of Nine.
Star Trek: Picard will premiere Thursday, February 16, exclusively in the US on Paramount +.
