Xbox recently announced some improvements to the Xbox app on PC. First, the app has been updated to improve its performance and reliability. It now starts up to 15% faster, is significantly more stable and has an improved search function to increase relevance and return results up to 20% faster. However, there is a much bigger improvement to the app.
Xbox has partnered with HowLongToBeat to bring estimated times to complete games in the app. On the game detail page for most Game Pass PC games (affiliate link), you will see estimates of how long it will take you to complete a game at different levels. HowLongToBeat is community driven, so these are real numbers and not just marketing. The times displayed are as follows:
-
Main Story (required): Complete the main objectives, just enough to see the credits roll
-
Main story and additional missions / medals / unlockables: take your time, discover and complete additional unsolicited tasks
-
Completionist (100%) – Strive for every achievement, every medal and conquer everything the game has to offer
-
Combined: All play styles considered during the estimation
You can even submit your schedules, manage your game library, and more if you click “View Details”. This sounds absolutely fantastic! I have to go see how quickly I can clear some of my backlog now.
