The Meme Becomes Real: Hulu Will Make A Momo Horror Movie Called “Grimcutty” – Hulu | Special (courtesy)
This year will be one of the weird and unexpected adaptations, such as “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and “Mad Heidi”. And one that adds to the list is ‘Grimcutty’, an unexpected horror film inspired by the famous internet meme that circulated on social media a few years ago, and known as “Momo”, and which will be released directly on Hulu Catalog.
In previous years there have been creepypasta-inspired horror films like “Slenderman”, from children’s stories and even popular games like “Bloody Mary”. But this time, the famous Momo comes in the form of ‘Grimcutty’, a Hulu productionwhich will premiere on its streaming platform on October 10, to celebrate Halloween.
Although its existence has been known for some time, the first trailer of ‘Grimcutty’, a horror film directed by John Ross, has been released, and which, according to the official synopsis, is about a “terrifying internet meme”, which triggers panic among everyone. the parents of the city, convinced that they are doing harm to themselves and their children to others ”.
The meme comes to life and is named after Grimcutty, a terrifying monster who begins attacking Asha Chaudry, played by Sara Wolfkind, and who her parents believe has started hurting herself as part of a challenge. The history and design of this tape are reminiscent of Momo, the creature who became famous on the Internet a few years ago.
Poster, cast and more details on “Grimcutty”
Hulu also revealed the first John Ross “Grimcutty” poster, with the creepy creature featured in the trailer. Additionally, it has a cast led by Usman Ally, Shannyn Sossamon, Callan Farris, Alona Tal and Kayden Koshalev. While to take care of the disturbing soundtrack will be the composer Sara Barone.

“Grimcutty” joins a trend of horror films that adapt several popular works, to give them a sinister and terrifying twist. The reception of this production was average compared to the others already mentioned above. It is worth mentioning that Hulu is an exclusive service in the United States, so Disney, the company behind the platform, is expected to announce a release date outside of the country.
We will have to wait to find out about the premiere of ‘Grimcutty’ outside of Hulu, since, as happened with Dan Trachtenberg’s ‘Prey’, it was released on the Star + and Disney + platforms in Latin America and Spain, and so it could happen with this title.
