Saban Films has released a trailer for a detective thriller titled American assassin, and well … this movie doesn’t look good. The film has an impressive cast which includes Tom Pelphrey, Ryan Phillippe, Idina Menzel, Moise Arias, Paul Schneider, Shantel Van Santen, Kevin CorriganAnd Jacki Weaverbut Pelphrey’s ridiculously exaggerated performance as the “American killer” makes the whole thing silly.
The film is based on a true story, “This gripping thriller follows Jason Derek Brown (Tom Pelphrey), a charismatic con man who funds his extravagant lifestyle through a series of scams. On Brown’s trail: Lance Leising (Ryan Phillippe), a tenacious FBI special agent determined to put Brown behind bars. When Brown’s funds are running out and his past catches up with him, he plots his most elaborate plan, pitting Leising in a deadly game of cat and mouse and becoming the most unlikely and elusive fugitive on the most wanted list of the world. American assassin is both written and directed by Matteo Gentile, who is making his feature film directorial debut. Saban Films will release the film in select theaters on October 21, 2022, then on VOD starting October 28.
