Zac Efron returned to the trending topics a few days ago at the premiere of ‘I’ll Take Care of Beer’, his new film for Apple TV +, at the Toronto Film Festival. Little was said about the tape, but her physical appearance was widely commented on on social networks. Something that isn’t new, as he gave a lot to talk about in April 2021 as well with a video he posted on Earth Day. The rumors about a possible cosmetic surgery have not stopped happening, but the actor wanted to clarify that, in reality, it was all due to an accident that almost cost him his life.

In an interview published in the latest issue of Men’s Health, Efron says the changes to his face were the result of a fractured jaw in an accident at his home in 2013. The actor ran in socks, slipped and landed on the edge of a granite fountain. From the accident he remembers regaining consciousness with a slack jaw. They had to mend it. Explain that the muscles of the face are made to work “in symphony” and that as a result of the accident the masseter muscles increased in size to compensate. “They have become very, very big” He says.

It was her mother who told her that there was speculation on the Internet about a possible cosmetic retouch. The actor says he doesn’t read anything about himself and adds: “If I appreciated what others thought of me to the point of believing I did, I wouldn’t be able to do this job.”. In a subsequent interview with E! he adds with some sarcasm that the voices seemed “fun” but that accident could have been fatal: “It sucks. I almost died, but I’m fine.”.
The consequences of his ‘Baywatch’ body
In the interview with Men’s Health, he also takes the opportunity to open up on the psychological consequences of trying to get the perfect body for “Baywatch: Baywatch”: “That look, I don’t think it was really achievable. Too little water on the skin. It looks fake, made with CGI. To get that look you need Lasix, a powerful diuretic.”. He claims he slept little, exercised beyond his means, and ate the same thing three times a day every day: “I started to develop insomnia and for some time I fell into a bad depression. Something about that experience burned me. It took me a long time to refocus. Eventually they attributed it to too many diuretics for too long”.
Efron admits he used his free time in Australia to try to quit exercising, but it didn’t last long: “How not to be fit all the time became a dream I had at one point. What if I said ‘fuck it’ and relax. I tried it and it was successful. And for all the reasons I thought it was going to be great, I just felt miserable. My body didn’t feel healthy, I didn’t feel alive. I felt sluggish and bogged down”. He went back to training. “I like to challenge myself and give it my all, to the point where I have to. Otherwise, I don’t feel like myself.”
“I’ll Take Care of the Beer” will premiere on Apple TV + on September 30th. Peter Farrelly directs Zac Efron and Russell Crowe in the tale of a man who travels on the front lines to Vietnam to bring beer to his friends on the front lines.
