Last weekend at D23 Expo, president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige he announced it Tim Blake Nelson (O brother, where are you?, Guardians) joined the cast of Captain America: New Order Order. Nelson will reprise his role fromThe Incredible HulkSamuel Sterns, but in the next film he completely transformed into The Leader.
Director Giulio Onah spoke to CB as D23 Expo over the weekend, and he talked about The Leader as the main villain and says this villain lured him into the film project:
“Let’s just say one of the things that really drew me to this project is that The Leader is a man who operates from the intellect, so it’s great to have an opponent who is working with this incredible intellect to really put Sam through the wringer of this one. And again, as a paranoid thriller, it’s this ingrained adventure where I think everything that happens in this movie is so real and intense, because of who this opponent is. So, let’s get back to that other question of yours, what he will have to face in this film is because he has such a terribly intelligent opponent. “
I love that he describes this film as a down-to-earth paranoid thriller adventure. I love watching this kind of movie. The director went on to say:
“There are a lot of things we’re going to bring to the table. And that’s a new set of challenges and a new set of opponents. I love classic paranoid thrillers and that’s a big part of the inspiration for this film. We want to find action that is. grounded and tactile and gives him new things to do that we haven’t seen in those other movies, and I don’t want to spoil too much, but let’s just say we’re planning some really, really exciting things.
Nelson is joined by Anthony Mackiewho will reprise the role of Sam Wilson; Danny Ramirez, who plays Joaquin Torres; And Carlo Lumblywho plays Isaiah Bradley, e Shira Haas recently joined the cast as a character named Sabra.
Giulio Onah will direct the film from a screenplay written by Dalan Musson And Malcolm Spellmanfor which they both wrote The hawk and the winter soldier. Spellman will produce with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
Captain America: New World Order will be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
