After breaking our hearts with the musical about love, fame and dreams that was “The City of Stars: La La Land”, Academy Award winner Damien Chazelle returns to Hollywood for his new film, “Babylon”, set in the city of Los Angeles in the 1920s in a story of delay and excess with Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva.
“It’s written in the stars, I’m a star”Robbie’s character states at the beginning of a trailer which is just a small preview of the wild ride that awaits us on January 20, 2023, where the ambition debauchery and abuse will mark the rise and fall of multiple characters during a period of decay and depravity in the dawn of Hollywood. The cast is completed by Jovan Adepo, Olivia Wilde, Samara Weaving, Li Jun Li, Jean Smart and Tobey Maguire, who apart from his return as Peter Parker in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, we hadn’t seen since. at the cinema since “The Fischer Case” in 2014.
Also written by Chazelle, they are produced by Michael Beugg, Maguire, Wyck Godfrey, Helen Estabrook and Adam Siegel. In Spain it will arrive exclusively in theaters from Paramount Pictures.

Chazelle made his directorial debut in 2009 with the musical drama “Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench” and as a screenwriter he wrote “The Last Exorcism 2” and “Grand Piano” by Eugenio Mira. In 2012, an 85-page script for “Whiplash” was blacklisted for Best Unproduced Movie Scripts, so he took 15, adapted them into short films, and secured the investment to make his full movie. With it, he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture and Adapted Screenplay, as well as winning Best Editing, Sound and Supporting Actor for JK Simmons.
Then came “The city of the stars (La La Land)” and the drama “Moonlight”, and his last film to date was ‘First Man – The first man’ also with Brad Pitt. As revealed by the director, the show epic that is “Babylon” has been around him for the past 15 years and is his most ambitious project to date. “Babylon” will debut in Spanish cinemas on January 20, 2023.
