If you are a fan of Kaiju movies, today I have an amazing gift for you! A trailer was recently released for a 1967 lost monster movie titled The space monster Wangmagwi, which has never been released on physical or digital media. Well, the film has been found and will finally be released thanks to SRS Cinema, which acquired the North American rights to the film.
Science fiction Japan claims the film is “the most sought after of the obscure unreleased kaiju films”. They go on to explain: “For decades it was thought to be lost until the Korean Film Archive recently organized some festival screenings in their home country.”
The film was directed by Gwon Hyeok-jin (The swordsman), and tells the story “of the arrival of a gigantic space creature named Wangmagwi (Great Devil) who intends to conquer the Earth. Landing in Korea, the alien goes on a destructive rampage. “
