Sean Astin (Gooni, Stranger things) And Craig Parker (Good trouble, kingdom) are reuniting after starring in The Lord of the Rings films together, to act together Sunday Cameron-Scorsese in the political thriller A social contractby the director Jason Mac. Alex Annone wrote the script and co-created the story with his partner Luca Malacrino. The film will also star Christopher Wallinger (The offer) And Samora Smallwood (Star Trek: Discovery), as well as Angela Morris (Shiny girls), Rachel Kang (Power Book IV: Come on), Connor Green And Maria Alejandra Hernandez.
The film will explore “the dynamics and social constructs of power, relationships and governance, a political dinner becomes deadly when a group of power-hungry politicians fight for a survival seat on a helicopter at the start of a nuclear war.”
While Astin will play the lead role of Senator Bennett Wilde, details on Parker’s part have not been disclosed.
Astin told Deadline that the thriller is about “what we mean for each other when we’re afraid of dying”.
Mac added:
“I’ve long been fascinated by the idea of ’if I knew I’m going to die tonight … what would my last hours be?’ Would I try to run away? Would I be in denial? Or try to do one last thing or right a wrong? So taking that thought and applying it to a group of power-hungry politicians allows us to strip off that social mask we all wear. desperate and darker parts of what lives inside us. And we can explore at what cost our personal survival is. “
