Nicolas Cage is preparing to play the most recognizable vampire in history in the next horror comedy, Renfield. Count Dracula has been played by many actors over the years, but Cage, of course, will bring his interpretation to the character. During an interview to promote his western drama, Crossing of the butcherCage was questioned by Variety about the path he is taking to create his character and explained:
“[It’s] a kind of fusion of some sort of August Coppola mid-Atlantic accent combined with a little bit of Christopher Lee, with a little bit of Anne Bancroft added for good measure.
He then went on to preview the entry a bit, which you can see in the video below, before adding:
“Doesn’t he seem like the kind of guy who has to fight them? He does. “
Directed by Chris McKay, Renfield sees Cage playing Dracula, with Nicholas Hoult like the title character, Renfield, Dracula’s henchman. They are joined in the cast by Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz And Brandon Scott Jones. Check out Cage’s debut of Dracula’s voice below and watch Renfield when it hits theaters on April 14, 2023.
