This December, the sequel series National treasure: boundary of history walks towards us, and follows Jess Valenzuela (Lisette Olivera), a 20-year-old dreamer who sets out on an exploration to uncover the mystery of her family history and, with the help of her friends, recover a lost historical treasure. Fans are excited about this new adventure and it’s great to see Giustino Barta go back to the role of Riley Poole from the movies, but what we really want to know is that we will see Nicolas Cage to return to the franchise as Benjamin Franklin Gates? According to two of the show’s writers, they have a plan.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marianne And Cormac Wibberley said of the return of the original cast members, “there was a lot of talk about trying to get Diane [Kruger] and Jon [Voight] at some points “for the show, but” it didn’t work out. “However, Cage is expected to make an appearance in a future season of National treasure: boundary of history, the creatives are ready. Cormac describes this hypothetical meeting between Ben and Jess as “Tony Stark visits Peter Parker”, explaining:
“That’s basically how we looked at the relationship if Ben Gates showed up. She’s basically Peter Parker to him and he’d be like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Ben Gates! What should I do?’ That’s how our universe is. We’d love to bring some of the other veterans if we had another season. We have roles for all of them. “
It would be a lot of fun to see Nic Cage come back to National treasure stories! National treasure: boundary of history will debut on Disney + on December 14th. If you haven’t seen the newly released trailer yet, check it out here.
