Luca Evans played the perfect Gaston in Disney’s live-action remake The beauty and the Beast. He was a perfect mix of charming and hilarious with hateful and rude, and along with his co-star Josh Gad, who played his partner LeFou, have created a team worthy of a Disney + spinoff series. It was announced a while ago, but it’s been a while since we’ve heard an update on the project.
Evans was recently asked about the series in an interview with Weekly entertainmentand he said:
“It’s been put on hold. We just want to make sure it’s absolutely the best it can be, and if that means we just have to wait a little longer to finish some pieces of it, then that’s what we’re going to do because that’s a very important legacy. . We want to honor these characters with the best story we can offer. It’s just waiting. It will happen. We are very excited about it. At some point in the near future, it will happen. “
Evans says he and Gad always talk. They had always wanted to work together, and then when The beauty and the Beastthe movie, it happened, they were looking for something else to collaborate with.
“Did we get the idea of what it would be like to delve into Gaston and LeFou’s past and how they met, who were they and why did they become the people we meet in the film we all know and love? That opened up several cans of worms. into the story of these two people and even new characters, and then bringing them up to the moment you meet them in the movie was a thrilling experience. There are many ways it could go. So that’s where we’ve been so far and where we hope to be. to go in the future “.
Emma Watson’s Guide The beauty and the Beast (2017) caused a sensation when it was revealed that Gad’s LeFou was gay in the film, although many critics, including the LGBTQ community at large, believed that element had been buried. Gad also says he felt the moment hadn’t gone far enough. Asked if this element is something he hopes will be explored in the prequel series, Evans, who is openly gay, says, “Who knows? I’m not sure.” He continued by adding:
“There are so many things about these two characters that we don’t really know, about their origins. Were they always these creatures or were they different? It’s kind of like no one was born evil. Things happen, you make bad decisions, or you choose to make a decision that will affect the rest of your life. I think that was where we were going with the idea and the concept. So I hope someday soon we will be able to tell that story for you guys. “
Hope the series happens. Evans and Gad are a fun couple in these roles and I think it would be a really fun series. Are you hoping to see the Gaston and LeFou series made?
