Jason Howden (Akimbo pistols) will write and direct a film adaptation of his first comic series Metal monsters. That comic hasn’t launched yet, but will be released via Opus Comics on October 19th.
The story was conceived as an R-rated mockumentary that is “a cross between Spinal stroke And The team of monsterswhich sees a group of beloved horror icons come together to form a heavy metal band. “Yes! That sounds fun!
Here are some additional details about the story: “Frankenstein’s monster (called Frank) and his bandmates Medusa, Jack O’Lantern, Werewolf and the Bride have spent the last few centuries squatting in Dracula’s castle, unbeknownst to their sleeping host. . But after a rehearsal from the band gets out of hand and awakens the fearsome vampire, the group is kicked out of the castle and forced to travel. As Frank and the band tour, they find themselves battling crazed groupies, monster hunters and other crypt creatures in a darkly comical tale that puts death into “death metal.”
This really sounds like a super cool concept that will make for an incredibly fun movie! I’m curious to see how it turns out, but I guess it will be completely freaked out based on what we’ve seen Akimbo pistols.
Howden wrote the script with Llexi Leon and Howden said, “Working with Llexi and the team has been fantastic. They are fanatics of the metal and horror subcultures and don’t want to water it down, creating mind-blowing stories for established music artists while staying true to their brands. We are all dedicated to producing entertainment that looks genuine for hardcore fans and is a great introduction to genres for a wider audience. Can’t wait to sink my teeth into this! “
Leon added: “I am extremely excited to be working with Jason on the feature film adaptation of Metal monsters. It was a blast to write the series together and he is the ideal director to bring this project to the screen. Fans of messy horror, dark comedy and heavy metal will be in for a treat. “
