The Fantastic beasts star of the franchise Catherine Waterston signed to star opposite Jodie Comer (Kill Eve, Free boy) in the apocalyptic thriller film The end from which we start. The film is an environmental crisis set in London about a mother who with her newborn baby tries to find a way home amidst chaotic floods. Waterston will reportedly play the character “O”.
BAFTA winner Mahalia Belo (The long song) directs the film, from a screenplay by Alice Birch (Succession), based on the novel by Megan Hunter.
The film is produced by SunnyMarch’s Leah Clarke and Adam Ackland (The Mauritanian) and Liza Marshall of Hera Pictures (Temple) alongside Sophie Hunter and Amy Jackson (The nest). Executive producers are Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton’s Sébastien Raybaud, Comer, Raybaud and Cecile Gaget (Groenland) and Eva Yates from BBC Film (After love).
Waterston recently starred in Sean Penn and Tye Sheridan’s drama thriller black flies. Star in Damien Chazelle’s upcoming Hollywood epic Babylon, due out later this year by Paramount and in the second season of the HBO series Perry Mason.
