The Tribeca Festival has announced that its 22nd edition, featuring innovations in film, television, immersive gaming, audio storytelling, speech and more, will take place in New York from June 7-18, 2023.
Applications for the festival, which supports both established and emerging artists, will begin next month. Applications for participation in the Feature, NOW, Immersive and Games categories can be submitted from September 19 to October 26, December 7 and January 18, 2023, with early, official and extended deadlines respectively. Applications for short and audio stories will open on October 26 and close on November 30 (early), January 11, 2023 (official), and February 22, 2023 (extended). Cara Cusumano, Festival Director and Vice President of Programming, curated the Tribeca Festival, which was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hetkoff to support the economic and cultural revival of Lower Manhattan following the 2001 World Trade Center attacks; artistic director Frederick Boyer; Sharon Badal, Vice President of Film Producer Relations and Short Film Programming, and Ben Thompson, Senior Short Film Programmer; senior programmer Lisa Domnitz; Programmer José F. Rodriguez; Vice President of Games and Immersive Casey Baltes and Curator of Immersive Anna Brzezinski; Audio Stories Curator Davey Gardner; music programmer Vincent Kasous; and a co-programmer team with program consultant Paula Weinstein.
Held this year from June 8-19, the 2022 Tribeca Festival hosted more than 600 events and more than 150,000 attendees in New York City. Highlights at the festival included the world premiere of a Netflix documentary first half starring Jennifer Lopez; World premiere of FX’s hit drama series for themstarring Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebir; and the world premiere of BJ Novak’s directorial debut, RevengeStarring Novak, Boyd Holbrook, Issa Rae, Ashton Kutcher and Dove Cameron, as well as live performances and appearances by Taylor Swift, Lil Baby, Cynthia Erivo, Common, Pharrell and more.
