For Harry Styles, My Policeman is not about 2 gays but about love and wasted time

The acting career of Harry Styles is on the rise, at the same time that the singer is already preparing his next studio album, and this 2022 has prepared the premiere of two films: ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ and ‘my cop’, the latter has generated a lot of controversy, since the Brit plays a homosexual man in the 1950s, although for him the film is not about the homosexuality of the protagonists, but about love in general.

In a recent interview with the magazine Rollin Stonethe singer confessed his point of view on the matter new LGBT + themed movie which will arrive in select theaters at the end of October and on Amazon Prime Video in the first days of November, with an exciting love story and drama about two homosexual men.

“Of course now it’s inevitable to think, ‘Oh, you couldn’t be gay, it was illegal,'” says Styles. “I think everyone, myself included, has our journey to discover our sexuality and become more comfortable with it.” says the singer and actor, who in ‘My Policeman’ plays a gay man who has a secret relationship in the UK.

Harry Styles confessed that from his point of view the movie ‘My Policeman’ has a very human history: “It’s not like I’m saying, “It’s a gay story about these gay guys.” For me it’s about love and wasted time”, Declares the singer, making it clear that the story goes beyond sexual discovery.

LGBT + themed films have begun to evolve in recent years, leaving behind the idea that discovering the sexual orientation of the protagonists is the conflict of the story, and giving way to more complex themes from a normalized view of love between people of the same sex, who faces circumstances beyond that, something that according to the singer, ‘My Policeman’ will be able to portray on screen.
