That George RR Martin was not convinced by the end of “Game of Thrones” was already known. In November of last year, we found out that the writer had asked HBO to have ten seasons for the series but, in the end, they denied the offer. We recently learned, from the same author, that showrunners stopped relying on his advice after the fifth or sixth season. Now, with “House of the Dragon” taking the headlines, the author of “A Song of Ice and Fire” has had a second chance to work more closely on the adaptation of his prequel book on the Targaryens. Taking advantage of the spin-off’s premiere, Martin once again stressed (via The Wall Street Journal) the need for “Game of Thrones” to have more than eight seasons, since there was a lot of material for it. “I said it took at least 10 seasons, and maybe 12 or 13”stated the writer.
Martin also got mad at “The Dragon House” where he says it’s more important. “I haven’t contributed in the last few seasons [de ‘Juego de Tronos’] except, you know, inventing the world, the story and all the characters. I think I have more influence now than the original series”He explained. As for the creation process, the writer talked about the five different teams that developed concepts separately and then presented them as potential series. “It was like we were in the NFL playoffs and I was coaching all the teams. Emotionally, it was a little weird.”the novelist joked.
Different from what we saw before
The brutal success that ‘Game of Thrones’ has garnered has meant that, just three years after its demise, a little sister came out to continue exploring this world from books. However, and although HBO wants to repeat the formula, Martin stressed that “House of the Dragon” will be different from “Game of Thrones”. The first difference is clear: time. The spin-off is set about 200 years before the events with Jon Snow, Daenerys, Tyrion and company. It was also foreseen that sex scenes and sexual violence against women will be treated differently.
It was the same writer who, in a speech on the official “Game of Thrones” podcast, gave the key difference between the two series. “‘House of the Dragon’ is different from ‘Game of Thrones’ in many respects.
