With the recent premiere of the first episode of “The House of the Dragon” this Monday, the new HBO production is giving a lot to talk about on social networks.. Added to this are the surprising statements of Miguel Sapochnik, showrunner of the series with Ryan Condal.

In an interview for Comicbook.com, Sapochnik assured that they already have a planned ending with enough material to make it happen. “We have a very, very precise idea of where we want to go, but we can’t say”. Unlike what happened in ‘Game of Thrones’, where some fans of the series were left with the doubt that the end was not something hasty, Condal and Sapochnik will tell the story in George RR Martin’s novel “Fire and Blood”.
As everyone knows, “Game of Thrones” began its story by following the storyline written by Martin in his books, but there came a point where the series was more advanced than the author’s work.. Which was quite predictable since after releasing “A Dance with Dragons”, the writer has been preparing “Winds of Winter” for more than 11 years. Therefore, DB Weiss and David Benioff, the showrunners of the hit series, were forced to create an ending of their own.
Like this, Sapochnik clarifies the starting point of “The House of the Dragon” and why they already have quite clear the ending. “I think the important thing is that it’s like Episode IV, ‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. We are in the middle of a rich story, full of things to tell and a good starting point.”.
How did they come to tell the story of the Targaryens?
For its part, Condal talked about how the idea to follow and tell in depth the dynasty of the Targaryen family was born.. “If you think about it, this is the most obvious successor story to tell. I mean, the moment George contacted me about it, a million years ago, I thought, ‘Oh, this is the story I want to do. ‘ That was what made the most sense, because in “Game of Thrones” we really didn’t know anything about the Targaryens.. I mean, we got to know Daenerys very well and Viserys a littleuntil it melted. So it’s fascinating to go to that world where there was no Targaryen and where they were trying to reclaim the remnants of this empire at the same time, the pinnacle of its power and decline and glory and see what it really was like when they were in power with the dragons”.
