Neal McDonough (Yellowstone, Captain America: The First Avenger) And Casey Cott (Riverdale) will play in the sports drama Black Spartans. The film was written and directed by Ben Cory Jones (Insecure), and will be in production in Atlanta this fall.
The film will explore “the explosive era of the mid-1960s when social upheaval paved the way for a new order in college football.” It will tell “the story of the first fully integrated college football team. The film is inspired by the Michigan State Spartans team, coached by Duffy Daugherty, who changed the face of the sport forever. “
Even though I don’t watch a lot of sports, I enjoy watching great and inspiring sports movies, and this looks like it will tell a wonderful story that will be a good movie. McDonough is an incredibly talented actor who has played some great characters in film and on TV over the years, and there’s no doubt he’s going to be awesome at that.
