The third season of the Amazon Prime Video superhero series has been greeted with praise from fans and specialists alike. And one of the key aspects that was introduced into the storyline of ‘The Boys’ was the appearance of the V24 compound, a new drug capable of giving superpowers to anyone.

Although it is not known what this substance is made of, but not to be confused with Compound V, as it can only be given to children, who can develop superpowers over time. Because if, for some reason, an adult decides to inject it, he can die from spontaneous combustion.

But unlike its longer-lived counterpart, the V24 is a lighter version of the Compound V’s ‘The boys’, both in the Amazon Prime Video series and in the comic. It is known that this drug can confer temporary powers on its carrier, for a period of 24 hours, although it can also be administered to animals.

It is also known that the V24 gives powers of strength and endurance, although the rest of the skills depend on each user. For example, Butcher gains immunity to bullets and lasers, while Hughie can teleport wherever he wants.

What are the side effects of using V24 on “The Boys”?

But even if for a moment this substance grants its bearers a power like they’ve never felt before, it might not be as good as it sounds. Well, as Stan Edgar reveals, V24 causes nausea and bleedingthat in the first place, however, there are even more deadly side effects.

Starlight infiltrates Vought’s Tower, who wants a dose of Compound V to restore Kimiko’s powers. But once there, she uncovers some documents claiming that V24 causes severe brain damage and that, from the fifth dose, it can be fatal.

Unfortunately for Butcher it is too late and he decides to inject himself one last dose so he can face Homelander at the end of “The Boys”, which means that Karl Urban’s character is only about 18 months to live due to the high amount of V24 on your body.
