
The famous German director Wolfgang Petersen passed away at the age of 81. After starting his film career in Germany, he moved on to American screens when he wrote and directed the 1984 film. The Neverending Storythen he wrote and directed the 1985 World War II miniseries Das Boot. In the 90s you directed In the line of fire, BurstAnd Air Force One. And in the 2000s you directed The perfect storm, Troy, PoseidonAnd Vier gegen die Bank.
Petersen died peacefully on Friday at his Brentwood, Calif., Residence of pancreatic cancer, in the arms of his 50-year wife, Marie Antoinette.
The director was highly regarded by his peers and admired by the talent he worked with, including Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Rene Russo, Glenn Close, Mark Wahlberg, Dustin Hoffman, Morgan Freeman and Diane Lane.
In addition to his wife, Petersen leaves behind his son, Daniel, and two grandchildren. The funeral will be private. Our thoughts are with his family and his friends.
