Last month, SEGA announced the new Waker class for Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. The class has officially hit free-to-play action RPG, so it might be time to brush up on the game and check out what a Waker can do. In short, the Wakers use photonic life forms (aka Familiars) to fight.
These familiars are summoned using a harmonizer that can also change the familiar’s fighting style to best suit the situation. It looks a bit more technical than the other classes, but it might be fun depending on your play style.
Waker has three photonic life forms, called Familiars, that support them in combat: Fredran, Wulfen, and Marmelo. Unlike pets, Pets do not need to be fed or raised. Players can use the Harmonizer to easily swap their fighting style from ranged attack, close range, and defense. Both Fredran and Wulfen can be summoned with Photon Arts. While Fredran specializes in long-range attacks, Wulfen prefers to get up close and personal with personnel. Marmelo can be summoned with Weapon Actions and can defend against enemy attacks and launch powerful counterattacks.
The harmonizer has its own measurement system called the Harmonizer Focus. Each familiar has a different Harmonizer Focus Indicator that fills up when attacking or defending against enemies. By consuming Fredran and Wulfen’s concentration gauge, the two can join forces to unleash their powerful special move, Familiar Harmony.
