The filming of the adaptation of “The Last of Us” ended last June and little by little they are making more announcements and official purchases. Through IGN, HBO Max revealed the two actors who will play Henry and Sam, a pair of brothers who survived the Apocalypse and with whom Joel and Ellie cross paths on their journey. They will be Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Woodard and the official release defines the characters as “some brothers in Kansas City hiding from a revolutionary movement seeking revenge.” We have seen Johnson in the films “The Hate U Give”, “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” and “Violet and Finch”, and in the series “Your Honor” and “The Next Step”; for Woodard it will be his first major role. In the game, although the series won’t adapt it to the letter, Joe and Ellie meet Henry and Sam in Pittsburgh, where they are on the run from human and infected hunters.

The rest of the well-known cast includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones”) as Ellie, Nick Offerman, Anna Torv, Murray Bartlett, Merle Dandridge, Gabriel Luna, Storm Reid and Brendan Fletcher. Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, who were voice actors in the original game, will also have roles in the series that have not yet been announced.
The “The Last of Us” series will follow the events of the first installment and will take place 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization. Joel and Ellie are a situational couple who must endure brutal situations and merciless killers on a journey across America. It is produced and co-written by Craig Mazin, creator of “Chernobyl”, along with Neil Druckmann, original game manager.
