Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 premieres this October and one of the only cast members still in circulation from season one is Meredith Gray, the show’s namesake. But her story will come off a bit and the series will focus more on the other cast. She will still appear in the series, but in a limited capacity.
The actress who plays Gray, Elena Pompeo, has had small roles in other projects since the show began in 2005, but is now expanding into an entirely new series on Hulu. The untitled series will be based on a bizarre true crime adoption story about a Midwestern couple who “adopt what they believe is an 8-year-old girl with a rare form of dwarfism. But when they start raising her along with their three biological children, they slowly begin to believe that she may not be who she says she is. As they question her story, they are faced with tough questions about how much they are willing to do to defend themselves, falling into a battle that has been fought in the tabloids, in the courtroom, and ultimately in their marriage.
Hulu has given the series an eight-episode order. Katie Robbins (The deal, The last tycoon) is writing and executive producing, with Pompeo set to executive produce under his production banner of Calamity Jane. Erin Levy (Mad Men, Counterpart) will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Calamity Jane’s Laura Holstein will also executive produce alongside Mike Epps, Dan Spiro, Niles Kirchner and Andrew Stearn.
I remember hearing about this crazy story when it happened and I’m thrilled to hear the full story with all the details from the series.
