Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian, Breaking Bad) said he spoke to Marvel Studios about the possibility of joining the MCU. He’s been talking about playing a few different characters, but what he’s most interested in is taking on the role of Professor X.
During a recent interview with TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con: “I haven’t worked for Marvel yet. I’ve been in a room with them and talked to them.” He went on to say:
“There is talk of Magneto. There is talk of Doctor Doom, and there is Professor X. I am going to choose something that is a little different. I will bring him out into the universe which is Professor X.”
It’s not really that hard to imagine Esposito playing Professor X, he looks like a character he could easily slip into and do cool and interesting things with him.
The actor also talked about the DC villain he could play and says he’s been linked to Mr. Freeze as well, which is also a great casting. Mr. Freeze is one of my favorite Batman villains and he has such a tragic backstory. I think Esposito could play the character beautifully.
Marvel Studio has yet to confirm that any live-action X-Men projects are in the works, but I think the reveal will come soon with more announcements to be made at the upcoming D23 Expo. We just have to wait and see.
What do you think of the chance to see Esposito as Professor X?
