Following the merger of Warner Bros with Discovery, HBO Max would be renewed until 2023 – Flix Nation Special (HBO Max | Discovery + | Freepink)
The merger of Warner Bros and Discovery announced changes to the entire structure, organization, services and content. Among these, the future of HBO Max also stands out, which would be renewed until 2023 both in the United States and in Latin America, albeit at different times of the year.
David Zaslav, the managing director of Discovery of Warner Bros, as the company that united the two large firms is now called; announced a few days ago that in addition to the merger of these two companies, the platforms of each of them would also be merged into one and that, as such, both HBO MAX and Discovery would cease to exist individually to give way to one new digital service.
Although there is still no name for the new streaming platform, David Zaslav announced that the service would be launched in the US in 2023. Now it is estimated that the same thing will happen in Latin America, but until the end of the same year.
That is, the service HBO Max would be renewed until the end of 2023 in Latin America, when the new streaming platform is launched from this part of the world. If this were to be true, the digital service could continue to be active until WB Discovery decides to launch the new digital catalog.
At the moment, it’s all about speculation and so we’ll have to wait for Warner Bros Discovery to announce what the next step in this merger is to find out what the true fate of HBO Max is in the coming months or until the new stream launches the platform.
Why does HBO Max renew and merge with Discovery?
In mid-2022 it was announced that David Zaslav, owner of Discovery, had bought Warner Bros and the CEO, far from keeping the two companies individually, opted for a collaborative strategy and decided to merge them to make one under the seal of Waner Bros discovery.
After this big commercial shift, the restructuring of the companies has suffered and in the last few days there have been many changes, especially in HBO Max: several of his projects have been canceled and some productions have left his catalog, advancing his merger with Discovery + for a new streaming platform that will last until 2023.
