IFC Films has released an intense and hilarious trailer for the dark neo-western thriller Country of God. The movie stars Tandy Newton like a woman who finds herself fighting for her life in a small college town.
Newton plays Sandra Guidry, “a black professor who lives and works in a rural college town. She discovers a mysterious red truck parked in her driveway and soon discovers that she belongs to a couple of local hunters trying to enter the forest behind her house. Sandra pushes them away politely but firmly: her experience of hers tells her that these are not the kind of men to welcome freely into her world. But they won’t take no for an answer, and Sandra soon finds herself caught up in a growing battle of wills that tests her deepest values.
The film is based on the short story “Winter Light” written by the acclaimed author James Lee Burke. The film was directed by Giuliano Higginswho also wrote the script with Shaye Ogbonna.
The series is also the protagonist Jeremy Bob (The intruder), Joris Jarsky (The little things), Jefferson White (Yellowstone), Kai Lennox (The Plainville Girl), And Tanaya Beatty (Crimes of the future). The film will be released in theaters on September 16, 2022.
