Kevin Feige says MCU’s “Fantastic Four” will not be an origin story

In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Feige offered a surprising statement in which he states that the new Fantastic Four movie will not be an origin story.. Therefore, we will see the four protagonists with their already acquired superpowers and they will no longer show us how they acquire them after exposure to certain cosmic rays during a failed space mission.

“Many people know the origin story, they know the basics. How do we take this and bring something they’ve never seen before?”Feige added. So, Marvel will follow the same introductory idea they used with Spider-Man’s arrival at the MCU. Tom Holland’s character went straight to the MCU through “Captain America: Civil War,” with no preliminary explanation on the famous story of how Peter Parker acquires his arachnid powers.

Go for the fifth try

The protagonists of the Fantastic Four will appear for the fifth time in theaters with the production of this new installment. In addition to first appearing in 1996, Tim Story directed “Fantastic Four” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” in the 2000s, followed by Josh Trank’s catastrophic “Fantastic Four” in 2015. For his part, Feige confirmed the high expectations the studio is placing in this production: “We have set the bar very high to bring this to the screen”. Marvel’s president says they’re actively looking for a director to replace Jon Watts, who was originally cast to take over the film but left to take a break from superheroes after the Spider-Man trilogy. From the Hollywood Reporter they recall that in September, precisely from 9 to 11, the D23 Expo, Disney’s Comic-Con, will take place, and surely Marvel has left surprises in store for fans of mice. Maybe the new director? Would it be too much to dream of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm being revealed to us?

“Fantastic Four” will be released in theaters November 8, 2024.
