A24 released our first look at Brendan Fraser as a 600lb man in the near future Darren Aronofsky movie The whale. In the film, Fraser plays a struggling obese man who is trying to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter.
This is Aronofsky’s first film as a director since he made it Mother!. The film is also the protagonist Stranger things star Sadi Sink, Hong Chau, Samantha Morton (The walking dead) And Ty Simkins (Insidious, Iron Man 3).
The project is based on Samuel D. Hunterthe critically acclaimed 2012 comedy of the same name. It tells the story of a lonely English teacher suffering from severe obesity. The six hundred pound recluse is hiding from the world and slowly eating himself to death. He is given one last chance at redemption as he attempts to reconnect with his separated teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption.
Speaking earlier on the project, Fraser said, “It will be like something you’ve never seen before. That’s really all I can tell you … The wardrobe and costume were large, seamless, bulky. This is certainly a long way from anything I’ve ever done, but not to be shy … I know it will make a lasting impression. “
Fraser has received a lot of love from fans over the past few years and has been on a big return journey as an actor. It’s great to see him get all these great acting jobs and there is no doubt that he will deliver an impressive performance in The whale.
