Abrams ComicArts is preparing to publish the first book in a new graphic novel series from Brian Michael Bendis And André Lima Araújo, Phenomena: The golden city of eyes. Here is the official synopsis:
The story of a boy named Boldon and his warrior friend Spike, who survived a phenomenon that took over Earth years ago. Not an apocalypse. . . something much more interesting. We follow Boldon and Spike as they are forced to team up with another lost orphan of the world, Matilde. The trio of heroes embark on a globetrotting adventure that takes them to a magical and mysterious place called the Golden City of Eyes.
As they search this epically insane new world in search of answers and purpose, they face dark forces large and small, changing the world for the better along the way. In each book in the series, our heroes travel to different parts of the magical world of Phenomena by various means of transportation, each one ever more fantastic than the way it preceded it. Each journey is personal and each chapter takes the trio to a different and visually iconic destination, and each place, character and chapter reveals clues to the shape of the world and how they got there and ultimately their purpose.
It looks like a fun adventure that mixes fantasy and science fiction. The first book will be released on September 13 and is already available for pre-order, while the second will be released in the fall of 2023.
