Avengers: Infinity War was the first part of the two-film saga that culminated the first three stages of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film provided us with information about Thanos, the worst and most formidable villain in Marvel history, who executed a plan to wipe out half the world’s population in an effort to alleviate the needs and resources of all peoples.
The movies turned out perfectly, with all the action, comedy and heartbreak we could muster, but the original plan for which endless war it included far more footage of a younger Thanos among his fellows.
In a recently released Netflix exclusive behind the scenes, ahead of their upcoming movie The gray mandirectors Antonio And Joe Russo guided fans through their offices. The couple, who directed endless war And End of the game, led viewers through the hallway and office space, where we could see tons of artwork from their films. This included a keyframe book from endless war, and one (provided by / Film) is a photo of a younger Thanos among a few others of his kind on what appears to be his home planet. Here are some of Thanos concept art released earlier.
The writers of the film, Cristoforo Marco And Stephen McFeelyhe previously expressed a desire to tell more about the villain’s origin story, previously telling ComicBook:
“We wrote some scenes, kind of flashback scenes of a young Thanos on Titan trying to push his cause … And part of the reason he left is that Jor-El did a little too much on Krypton. who did his cause, you know? It was the kind of thing you could sneak in without having to see it. “
So instead of leaning into the backstory that sounded like Superman, they turned to the backstory involving Thanos’ stepdaughters:
“What we decided on were all those scenes that explained the story she had with Gamora. Those are doing more than one thing, because they are highlighting her relationship with the daughter that she will have to sacrifice.”
Everything went smoothly. The movies still gave a really solid sense of Thanos’ frame of mind and we could understand from him the story of him why he was doing what he was doing. However, it is nice to see him as a young man. Check out the photo above and let us know if you’d like to see a more complete story on Thanos’ origins.
