Justin Kemppainen (Star Wars: Imperial Assault) worked as a designer and manager at Fantasy Flight Games and Z-Man Games. Recently, he started a new board game development studio with two of his colleagues called Moon Crab Games.

The team recently launched its first game called Kickstarter Leviathan Wilds rumored to have some inspiration from the classic PS2 video game The shadow of the colossus. The game will be a cooperative tactical board game that supports 1-4 players. Players will have to climb gigantic creatures and cure them of some “mysterious ailments that cause madness”. Yes, that The shadow of the colossus inspiration comes to the surface.

Long ago, the once kind leviathans lost their minds and tore the world apart. After generations of hiding and fighting, humanity has discovered that the frenetic leviathans can be restored. Climbers willing to take the risk must explore the wilderness and work together to cure the leviathans that roam the world.

Leviathan Wilds was publicly developed with Tabletop simulator so fans can more easily provide feedback through their growing Discord community. Inside you will find a spiral bound book that contains 20 challenging scenarios. Each scenario offers unique gameplay, unique artwork and a unique map. Key aspects of the gameplay include climbing, gravity, multipurpose cards, character deck customization, and an optional lightweight narrative campaign. Speaking of bringing the game to life with Moon Crab Games, Kemppainen said:

After 10 years of making other people’s games, it’s thrilling but most of all terrifying to take this leap: building a board game from scratch using such high inspirations and then asking people very directly, ‘Is this great?
