Slowly but surely the live action film of “Lilo & Stich” is proceeding, which is currently in development and which had remained uncertain after the departure of Jon M. Chu as director of the project. However, it seems that this losing streak is finally over as Disney has found the new director to take over the film.
According to Deadline reports, Dean Fleischer Camp will be in charge of directing the live action of ‘Lilo & Stich’. The director has a very short career, gradually distinguished himself in the industry with various television and film projects of different styles.
The Dean Fleischer Camp’s best known project is “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”.’, a well-known stop motion short film produced by A24 that caused a sensation during its release in 2021 and received a standing ovation from critics, only on Rotten Tomatoes it achieved a 99% rating.
Although, on the other hand, he has also been part of other projects such as ‘David’, ‘Stray Days’, ‘Catherine’ and ‘Delocated’, among many others where in addition to being a director he also participated as a screenwriter. On “Lilo & Stitch” he will not be the screenwriter and Chris Kekaniokalani Bright is estimated to be the one who is in talks to be the screenwriter of the film adaptation.
For now, the live film adaptation of ‘Lilo & Stitch’is still in a very early stage of development and therefore no one has confirmed that they are part of the production. For now, only Dean Fleischer Camp is part of the film and perhaps Chris Kekaniokalani Bright will join him at some point; although the main cast has yet to be signed.

‘Lilo & Stitch’ the next Disney live action
In recent years, Disney has been betting on live action adaptations of blockbuster animated films. One of the most recent was ‘Cruella’, which brought the story of the ‘101 Dalmatians’ to the screen, albeit not from the point of view of dogs but from the terrifying stylist Crudelia de Vil.
In addition, he has also brought classic princess films such as “Beauty and the Beast”, “Cinderella” and many more to the big screen. Now it’s up to “Lilo & Stitch” to reach the big screen and it’s going to be quite a challenge as they’ll have to mix real action with “Sonic” style 3D animation if they’re looking for the alien to really make sense of the story.
