Jeff Goldblum is set to take on the role of the vengeful god Zeus in Netflix’s dark comedy series about Greek mythology, Kaos. Hugh Grant was originally supposed to play Zeus, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
The series was created and written by Charlie Covell and Goldblum joins the rest of the ensemble cast, which includes Janet McTeer, Curtis cliff, David Thewlis, Killian Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Misia Butler, Leila Farzad, Nabhaan Rizwan, Rakie Ayola And Stanley Townsend.
Kaos is described as a contemporary version of Greek mythology, “exploring love, power and life in the underworld. Nothing is sacred in Covell’s daring reinvention of Greek myths (think tracksuits not robes), except the betrayal and arrogance of a group of fickle gods and their cosmic machinations … Some things don’t change. never”.
Goldblum’s version of Zeus is said to be “Zeus seemingly omnipotent, but desperately insecure and vindictive, who has long enjoyed his status as King of the Gods. That is, until one morning he wakes up and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. The neurosis then begins, setting him on a dangerous and paranoid path. Zeus is convinced that his fall is coming and he begins to see signs everywhere. “
Goldblum will be as awesome as this version of Zeus! I am thrilled to see how his acting style and his energy translate into this character.
The series will consist of eight episodes and production is expected to begin by the end of the summer.
